This Week's Favorite Images

Hi - Today I'm off to Chiang Mai to visit with and say goodbye to friends, acquaintances and old haunts.  After Chiang Mai, I'm off to Mae Hong Son, Pai and Penang, Malaysia.  I will try to post while I'm on the road...but don't be surprised if you don't see anything in this space for a couple of weeks.

Here are my favorite images from this week.  Some are from Facebook, some are from Hua Hin and environs.

I have not owned a dog since Marc was a baby.  I have nothing against dogs - just don't want the responsibility, especially since I travel so much.  Thailand has TONS of soi (street) dogs, wat (temple) dogs and talay (beach) dogs.  We've watched this beach dog chase horses, chase and fight other dogs, pull a man's swim trunks down (really!) and generally protect his territory.  He can be vicious and annoying, but he can be very gentle as well.  I call him Stumpy because he has a short tail.  He and I have an agreement - you don't bother me, and I won't bother you.  He seems to understand:-)

This was only about 1/4 of the motorcycles parked at the mall
You might be wondering what I was doing in the motorcycle parking lot.  Well...Saturday I took rides on 3 different motorcycles.  Sunday I rode on 2.  I know that it's not the safest way to get around, but it sure is quick!  Most drivers avoid the crowded main roads.  That's good, right?

The best latte in town from Jib's Restaurant on Soi 88!

Shelagh and Brin at Khao Kalok (she closed her eyes at the last moment)
Two British couples have befriended me.  Both couples are retired and reside in Hua Hin.  Once a week, each of them transport me to some kind of eatery.  Debs and David live on my soi and were in the wedding pictures in a previous blog post.  We have dinner together most Sundays.  Shelagh and Brin took me to immigration to extend my visa, waited for me, then took me out to eat.  Yesterday they took me to the beach restaurant at Khao Kalok.  I am thrilled that I get to spend time with both of these couples.  They've made my stay in Hua Hin so much more enjoyable:-)

Until my next post~
